yes, i'm judgemental towards
shallow people
but i know i'm not the one
whose perspective is feeble
because i can see the beauty in the
lack of embellishment
i much prefer the grown to the
manufactured personalities are not in keeping with my spirit
they clip my wings and push me to the limit
i start to think that stupid things are really important
so get out of my face if you think it's that important

is my hair looking nice?
is that boy looking at me?
what mind games can i play
so that i can get my way?
is my wallet really fat?
is my stomach really skinny?
is my beauty only skin deep?
am i still a creep?

i've spent some time in the
land of the vacuous
that i did not kill somebody is
really quite miraculous
i started to believe that i really did belong
in a state of eternal sleep, i found out i was wrong
so i got really mad and the truth i had to face
and i took myself out, i was gone without a trace
and i don't think i ever want to return again
to a place where life is only, worthy when

your hair's looking nice... (into repeated chorus)

in a sea of outsiders, i'm a misfit
'cause i'm one of the chosen few, who can deal with it
in a sea of outsiders, i'm a misfit
'cause i'm one of the chosen few, who don't give a shit

you can say i'm mean,
i don't see the humanity
in shallow people's schemes but
that's not reality
i know 'cause i've been there and i've played the game
and it's fun for awhile 'til you cause yourself the pain, of
living on the surface, living like it don't matter
that the pictures we paint are easy to shatter
when you try to ignore that our life is defined
by so much more than just the, bottom line

or if your hair's looking nice.....(into repeated chorus)

I aim for an aesthetic that is equal parts lyrical wit and acoustic angst. If Chrissie Hynde and Billy Bragg had a kid raised by Madonna and Ani DiFranco, I’d like to think he’d sound just like me. I used to call myself acoustic punk, but that felt rather conflicting and restricting given my love of the Spice Girls. I’m spending 2016 recording a long-overdue album and can’t wait for you hear it. ... more
